A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to working to keep people well, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.  For 60 years, Hamilton Memorial Hospital has cared for Hamilton and White County residents with compassion and excellence in clinical care. During 2021 National Hospital Week, health care facilities across the country will unite to celebrate and bring attention to the importance of hospitals, and the important role the staff has played during the national COVID-19 pandemic.

A full slate of activities is planned at Hamilton Memorial Hospital during this week, including daily employee meals, treats, and special gifts.  

The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
